Organizational History

The San Antonio Dance Umbrella was founded in 1992 as a special initiative of the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs to fill a longtime need to promote and serve the art of dance in and around san Antonio. The founding members were part of the city's peer review panel for dance in 1992. The founders met a challenge by the Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs by laying the groundwork for this new organization. 

Goals of SADU include disseminating pertinent information among the dance community; strengthening the levels of development, marketing, public relations, and audience development; and increasing the education, funding, and enjoyment of dance in the community at large.
