Dance Partners

Dance Partners is a program of the San Antonio Dance  Umbrella that places local professional dance artists in area schools for a ten to twelve week residency each spring. Dance is integrated with the regular curriculum as students learn about different movement styles, choreography, performance, and problem solving.

The 2004 Dance Partners

On April 29 & 30th, 2004, Dance Partners worked with Palo Alto College to present "Familiar Moments," an intergenerational, multi-media dance/theatre performance.  Artistic Director Dora Ruffner and Guest Artistic Director Alana Shaw crafted this work over a period of a couple of months with both experienced and inexperienced dancers.  The themes, family, food, conflict, trust, transformation, and love, were translated into dance and images that were projected onto the wall and the dancers themselves.  There were 21 performers, 13 Palo Alto College students and 8 intergenerational community members ages 20 to 80.

Dance Partners is funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
