San Antonio’s Cadence Cloggers is a high energy,
quick stepping, precisely choreographed dance group.
We’ve been together for over 27 years and perform
a varity of routines to a wide range of music.
The Cadence Cloggers shall maintain and extend the traditions of the American
Folk dance known as clogging. Clogging
is an art form in dancing which has its heritage in early England, Ireland,
Scotland, and many countries of Africa and which was brought to America
by the early European settlers and by the black slaves who lived on plantations
in the 1700’s and 1800’s. Clogging
today is a rich mixture of European and Africa clog dance steps, and it
is this mixture which is a unique American art form in dancing.
The purpose of the Cadence Cloggers is as follows:
- To stimulate interest in and to gain a wider
acceptance and appreciation of clogging by the general public as an
American art form in dancing
- To exhibit, perform and demonstrate clogging
at local, regional, and national festivals, fairs, cultural events,
conventions, and other such gatherings
- To teach the dance of clogging as an art form
by offering classes and lessons on basic and advanced clogging dance
steps and routines and by maintaining and providing regularly-scheduled
dance instruction and practice periods
- To share the heritage of clogging with others
interested in clogging in competitions and conventions.
