Ballet San Antonio Academy, formerly known as Mayra Worthen Ballet School, established in 1984, is the home of Ballet San Antonio. The affiliation of the school as the official academy of the company was an integral ingredient in the commitment to establish a professional ballet institution. A company without a school is like a flower without a seed. The nuances of a company's artistic identity are developed and matured through a combination of training and repertory, and its school provides the opportunity to bring young dancers to a professional level within the artistic attitudes of the institution.

During the course of a student's training in an affiliate school, he or she is constantly exposed to the professional atmosphere of the company. The sensibilities of real professionalism are deeply ingrained, and the proximity to rehearsals as well as daily classes provides invaluable qualities of discipline and insight into the arts.

The faculty of Ballet San Antonio Academy is made up of professionals who encourage artistic growth in their students. These teachers have proven their ability to train professional dancers, and their goal is to continue the reputation for excellence for which the school has been noted since its inception.

The school maintains a policy of open enrollment and is based on an academic year. Fees are based on 48 weeks of instruction divided into 4 quarters.
