The Texas Thunder Cloggers is a fast paced, high-energy percussive San Antonio dance team specializing in Appalachian clog dancing, known simply as “clogging.” As a dance form, clogging has its roots in the melting pot of dances brought to this country by the European settlers to the Appalachian region during the earliest days of American’s beginnings. It is a true American folk dance, having developed a lively and energetic style all its own. The Texas Thunder Cloggers dance a wide variety of clogging styles including traditional Appalachian dances and modern clogging line dances; both choreographed routines and old-fashioned hoedowns. We believe in preserving the heritage of the dance while also promoting its continuing evolvement through the creativity of adapting the dance form to contemporary music. Music for our dance routines includes bluegrass, country, pop, and rock. We are a non-profit (501c3) organization. Our public appearances have included the Texas State Fair, Winedale Bluegrass Festival, the Harp & Shamrock Irish Festival, the annual San Antonio Cloggers' Showcase, the Texas Independence Day Celebration I Washington-0on-the-Brazos, the Bandera Boys and Girls Club Harvest Fest, the Boerne Hill Country Christmas, the Bulverde Jubilee, the Blanco Heritage Festival, and various community, school, church and charity events. If you would like to learn more about Texas Thunder Cloggers and clogging for fun and exercise, please visit us online at www.TexasThunderCloggers.org or email us with any questions at TexasThunder@TexasThunderCloggers.org. We give an 8-week session of clogging lessons twice a year. The Spring, 2007 session begins March 28 with our Open House. The first lesson is free!
