SADU's Dance Around the World

The 2006 date for this event will be May 7.

The 2005 performance featured performers including: Polish dance group, Der Deutsche Volkstanzverein, Sarita’s Dance Studio, Laura Von Sachsa’s Group, Alamotion (SA Parks & Rec), Fandango (SA Parks & Rec), Academia de Arte Flamenco, Karavan, Bedouin Dancers, Hula Halau Ohana Elikapeka, Baile Artistico, A & R Productions, Texas Tradition Cloggers, Daniel’s Artistic Dance Studio, Inishfree School of Irish Dance, Dance OLAM, Arathi School of Indian Dance, Cadence Cloggers, Karilagan. In all generations and every culture, dance has used rhythm, poetry, song, the body, and music to celebrate the life of the community, tell its stories, initiate youth to adulthood, and more. Because it is part of what it means to be human, dance and other arts are fundamental to communicating and understanding not only ourselves, but also others. They help develop a person’s character and values, confidence and empathy, respect and tolerance. In addition, dance provides physical exercise, which enhances health and provides knowledge of and confidence in the body’s ability. Celebrating through dance enhances emotional health. And dancing together bonds people as a community. Dance Around the World represents that which is best about SADU. This concert is meant to inform, tear down pre-conceived notions,and remove barriers for audience and dancers. Program and member demographics reflect that of our city, including many races, cultures, religions, ages, and abilities.  SADU gathers cultural groups from across the city and region to celebrate all the best that can come from dance.
